Default Salvage Failure

I'm sorry to repeat this topic. I couldn't find it with search being disabled.

Is there a chance that you fail an expert salvage? Just the other day I got a gold gladius with a sword pommel of health +29. I checked the PC and found out that the pommel can sell for upwards of 20k. Woohoo great find! I click my expert salvage kit and break the weapon down only to find 3 steel ingots in my inventory and no pommel.

I don't think I've ever had a salvage failure before. Is this a rare occurence? Was I just unlucky? Or was this a bug? I was really sad to not get the pommel.

Unlucky
It is not uncommon. Every now and then an Expert salvage will give you nothing but the crafting materials. There is no 100% guarantee that you will get the upgrade off the item. That's just the chance you have to take when salvaging.

Don't spread shit rumors like this around. It's pure falsity. The only difference between expert and superior is the number of uses.

Ya, there is no dif. between expert and superior. Back on topic, its not a rare occurence, happens to me, well, it seems every single time. Get used to it.

I've always hit one of the upgrades whenever I used an expert kit. Coincidence? Yes.

Hit and miss for me also.

On a possitive note, steel is in high demand in Cantha right now...

It's now possible to fail at extracting a rune from armour when you upgrade to the next class. Well I say it's now possible it's been in for a good while. This is how it used to be. There was a short time when we would never fail with rune salvaging on our own armour, but for some reason it was stopped. And never explained.
